| he NKC's concession is located near a small town (Logas), 120 km away from Pekanbaru (the capital of Riau). From Logas, NKC built the 40 km long access road to the mine area. Today, the road is helping the communities to travel from one village to the others. The mine area is called Sepuh mine site, Sepuh means "very old" in Indonesia language. It covers more than 60 ha area. And it is surrounding by heavy tropical rain forest. NKC built its extensive mine facilities, camps and processing plants there along with the almost 2500 Kva power generator to power the whole complex.
NKC's commitment is to be a good environmental steward. We comply with government enviromental and reclamation rules. A special attention is paid to water and land pollution control including to build a specific water treatment facilities before allowed the water flows to public rivers. And also our reclamation program is carefully planned, so when the mining is complete, we will leave the land equal than before. And for the community development programs, in order to help our communities grow better, NKC built public facilities and others that very usefull to them. |
